NANAKULI STUDENTS PREPARING FOR A CHANGING WORLD

Before you design a robotic arm that can attach the Hubble Space Telescope to the space shuttle Atlantis, you learn how to design one that can pick up a block of plastic.

That’s what they’re doing at Nanakuli High School.

Using Autodesk Design Academy, a software suite purchased for the school by PVT Land Company, students in grades 9-12 are designing robots to compete in the First Tech Challenge “Block Party,” a competition among Hawaii’s public and private schools.

Preparing for tomorrow’s jobs.

Students are learning 3D mechanical design, documentation, and product simulation designing and validating their projects before they are built. Here in class it leads to a better robot. In the world of manufacturing, the same software helps industrial designers deliver better products, reduce development costs, and get products to market faster.

The software is also used in the school’s wood shop, where students are learning to use it in the design and construction of homes and other wood products.

Skills for a changing world.

Technology is changing our world. PVT is proud to have played a role in helping the students of Nanakuli High School change with it.
