Twice as Nice: Nānākuli Wins Second D2 State Softball Title
They say history repeats itself. For the Nānākuli Lady Hawks, that’s a good thing.
In May, the Lady Hawks won their second consecutive DataHouse Division II state softball crown, rallying twice to defeat Waimea 8-5.
Alexis Paulo-Meyers and Raynette Meyers-Kahalehoe brought the fire power, combining to drive in five runs for the Lady Hawks, who came back from 3-1 and 5-4 deficits with a four-run top of the seventh inning to hand the Menehune their first loss of the season.
There was no shortage of enthusiasm from both teams’ cheering sections at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. The standing-room only crowd saw the teams combine for 10 runs in the final three innings.
PVT is proud to be one of the team’s sponsors. Congratulations to all the players and to head coach Ricky Gusman and his staff on a great season and a thrilling championship.
